Robert
Emmet Fitzgerald (Fitz) has 26 years of diverse design
experience as an architect and is known for his philosophy of
“Architectural Stewardship” relative to our western
heritage. Fitz is outspoken in his reverence for the simplicity
of form and utility found in western architecture and for both
the logic and the appeal of design ideas often found within
the vernacular styles of a particular locale. His work is always
rooted in the physical and cultural context of a place and is,
therefore inherently site specific. He has been the leading
architect for several notable efforts including: the architecture
of the owner cabins, recreational amenities and communal buildings
of the Storm Mountain Ranch in Steamboat, the Maytag Mountain
Ranch near Westcliffe, CO., the Elk Creek Ranch outside of Meeker,
Indian Shadow near Durango and “Marabou,” Steamboat
Springs’ newest entry into ranch conservation development.
Fitz has also been architect for several private development
projects across the West. Currently, he is Project Design Director
for the Vail Resorts Development Company’s redevelopment
of Lionshead and Vail Village and won the developer led competition
to redevelop the Lionshead Parking Garage site (a new $600 million
resort hotel complex). Email
