Residence
This magnificent custom log home was designed and engineered by Edgewood Log Homes of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. After the design process, it took over two years for the skilled craftsman to complete the house. All logs are from standing dead trees and are treated after milling with Borite (non-toxic solution) to make them resistant to insects and mold. The logs were pre-finished prior to shipping and built in place. The exact location of each log was considered, including breadth, density and age. Each log was hand hewn with incredible detail, joinery and craftsmanship, averaging 15 inches in diameter. The overall impact of this size log, coupled with the use of stacked Telluride stone accents (interior and exterior) is gorgeous. The design concept was to use these natural materials to frame the spectacular views from all rooms in the house, while ensuring the home is full of light. The signature design attribute is the great room with its “glass forest,” a patented design of windows using a single pane of glass set between two trees. Stunning is one of the few words adequate to describe the scene when looking out. A tour of the house includes:

Wildlife and Recreation
The Pines at Window has an ideal combination of wildlife habitat, gardens, trails and exceptional views in a very private setting. Commonly seen are migrating elk, deer, red tail hawks, eagles, and many other small animals and birds. Many of these will be seen around the estate and are a welcome reminder of the sanctuary that has been created within Windom Ranch. The local area is phenomenally gifted with diversity and a myriad of options for most outdoor activities and pursuits. There is fishing in Electra Lake and nearby at the Lemon and Vallecito Reservoirs. Also, fly-fishing on the Animas, Los Pinos, Florida and San Juan Rivers is spectacular.
Skiing and many other summertime activities were discussed earlier, although golf opportunities need to be discussed. Excellent golf can be found at the private Glacier Club (memberships available to homeowners in Windom Ranch), just 5 miles away, and Dalton Ranch Golf Club, Hillcrest Community Club and a top-rated public course at Pinion Hills in Farmington, NM (approximately 60 miles).
